šŸ“˜ Logic & Formulas

1) Weighted Average (after averaging)

New Average = (P₁ Ɨ U₁ + Pā‚‚ Ɨ Uā‚‚) Ć· (U₁ + Uā‚‚)

  • P₁ = Old Buy Price, U₁ = Old Units
  • Pā‚‚ = Current Price, Uā‚‚ = New Units
  • For lots: U = Lots Ɨ 75 (Nifty), 35 (Bank Nifty), 20 (Sensex)
2) Behavior of the average
  • If Pā‚‚ < P₁, averaging down pulls the new average towards Pā‚‚.
  • If Pā‚‚ > P₁, averaging up pushes the new average towards Pā‚‚.
  • The average approaches Pā‚‚ as you add more units, but only equals Pā‚‚ when P₁ = Pā‚‚.
3) Lots needed to reach a target average (optional)

Uā‚‚ = ((T āˆ’ P₁) Ɨ U₁) Ć· (Pā‚‚ āˆ’ T), then Lots = ceil(Uā‚‚ Ć· lot size)
